Honestly, at this point, I'd break up Lecavalier and Tanguay. They're the ones not getting anything done.
I'd spot start Downie up there, and keep him on line 4 during key times. Tocchet usually changes things up a bit situationally, so I don't think the 4th line is completely "changed" up. But at this point, honestly, It's not so much finding a winger for Vinny's line, so much as getting Vinny and Alex going on the scoreboard. Assists are great, but most have been on the PP, so it's not "Vinny's Line" getting it done.
Downie on the other hand has a goal, and has been very effective. I'm not a big fan of breaking up line 4, but something's gotta be done to that line to get it going. If Downie up there doesn't get them going, I say move Malone up with Vinny, and Tanguay with MSL and Stammers.
I'd prefer big picture to keep this 4th line seperation short term though.
I actually agree with you Sec. I think 3 of our 4 lines have been playing quite well together while displaying some pretty decent chemistry.
I also strongly agree with Tocchet that it is up to Lecavalier and Tanguay to get out of their slump. They're professional athletes, and they'll work through it, we need to be a little more patient. I mean let's face it, we're not even 10 games in yet and people are already calling for Tocchet to get the axe. We're lucky to have such a great coaching staff.
I leave you this to ponder.
